Parking Ticket

No, not the ones issued by cops. The one issued by the parking bay machines.

Anyhow, what would you do, if you happened to come across a paid ticket jutting out of the ticket machine as you were just about to pay for your own? The ticket states - PAID 7.00. You look at the ticket again, without a doubt you know that it has been paid for, worth 7 ringgit.

You look right and left and back and front and attempts to chase the lady whom you saw earlier getting out of the ticketing booth as you thought it’d be hers, but you realise that she obviously have her own as she’s flapping it around.

You go back to the booth, waiting a bit to see if anyone shows up to claim the ticket, which is now in your left hand. It is literally a ticket to get out of jail the parking bay free. You reach for your pocket with your right hand and take out your own ticket, lacking the tempting PAID 7.00 keyword.

You put them side-by-side.

You have two.

So.

Which one?

Reunion

The past couple of weeks have come and gone, just like that. A moment too short to relish. I am rarely able to find time rest properly, other than sleeping. This Chinese New Year celebration was particularly short for me, having to leave home sooner than usual. No longer will there be extended holidays - the idea of family reunions is becoming more and more literal. I’ve always thought that the New Year reunion dinner is not such a big deal, since I see my family so often anyway. But as days go by, as my siblings and I get more involved in work, I began to realise that family reunions are not just big, fancy dinners - they are really. Family. Reunions.

To top that off, the recent New Year commercials on TV reminding people to go home really hit me hard. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve not missed any reunions and I don’t plan to - but I’m afraid there’s always the possibility that I’ll have to miss one or two, possibly leading to more later on.

Though now, I have a simple resolution that I’ll make every year.

And oh, Happy Fifth Day of Chinese New Year.
